Painting PPC in Omaha:
Google Ads for Omaha painters.

Google Ads for one Omaha painting contractor: your calls only, priced against booked work, across a metro that sits in two states and gets rebuilt by storm season every spring.

The Omaha painting market, honestly

Omaha is one metro sitting in two states, and that changes how a painter should spend here before anything else does. The Missouri River separates Douglas and Sarpy Counties in Nebraska from Pottawattamie County in Iowa, so a homeowner in Council Bluffs types the same words into Google as a homeowner in Elkhorn while sitting in a different state, a different tax jurisdiction, and usually a different price bracket. Layered on top of that is the weather. Nebraska storm season runs hail and straight line wind through this metro most springs, and on April 26, 2024 the National Weather Service rated the tornado that crossed Elkhorn, Bennington, and Blair an EF-4 with peak winds near 170 miles per hour. Exterior work in this metro is repair as often as it is refresh. We have never run ads for a painter in Omaha. Under the one painter rule the whole thing is open, both sides of the river, and the first crew to claim it gets all of it.

What makes Omaha different for painters

  • 01

The state line is a budget decision, not a detail on a map. The Omaha and Council Bluffs metro spans eight counties across Nebraska and Iowa and crossed one million residents in the 2025 census estimates. Most painters here quietly serve one side and drive to the other only for the right ticket. If your ads do not say so, Google will happily sell you Pottawattamie County clicks all day at the same price as Papillion clicks. We split the river into its own geo layer with its own bid, so you can run Iowa at a discount, run it only for full exteriors, or turn it off entirely without touching the Nebraska side.

Storm season imports your competition every spring, and search is the only place you outlast it. After a hail or wind event, out of area exterior crews flood this metro, knock the affected streets, take the insurance scope, and are gone before the next season. They do not bid on keywords, because their whole model is doors and yard signs. That leaves the search results wide open to whichever local painter is actually there, which matters most in the second half of the job, when the homeowner has a new roof, mismatched siding, and trim nobody touched. Ad copy that says you finish what the storm crew started sells against them without ever naming them.

In the pre war brick belt, the job you are selling is trim, not full body. Dundee, Field Club, the Gold Coast, and the Benson streetcar blocks are heavy with 1910s and 1920s brick, and the paintable surface is soffit, fascia, porch columns, dormers, and window casings that have been coated and recoated for a century. That work is carpentry first, prep heavy, and it prices per detail rather than per square foot. Citywide the median home dates to the early 1970s, so behind those historic blocks sits an enormous middle band of aging siding on its third or fourth cycle. A painter chasing full exterior repaints and a painter chasing trim and carpentry want different keywords, and running them in one campaign hides which one is paying.

  • 04

Sarpy County is manufacturing first time repaints while everything west of 168th keeps filling in. Sarpy grew about 7.5 percent between the 2020 census and the July 2024 estimate, Gretna is the fastest growing city in the state, and Papillion, La Vista, and Bellevue keep adding households. Offutt Air Force Base sits in the middle of that with roughly ten thousand military and civilian personnel cycling through on orders, which produces a steady flow of move in and move out repaints from people who have no painter, no referral, and no patience. Those are exactly the households that solve the problem with a search. The tradeoff is the calendar: the exterior window here runs roughly April into October, spring wind takes spray days off the board with no notice, and the crews that stay full are the ones whose May was sold in February.

The house rule, applied

One Omaha
painter.

Omaha is open as of this writing. No painter in this metro runs ads with us, and only one ever will. Whoever takes it gets every campaign, keyword, and landing page we build for eastern Nebraska and western Iowa pointed at their brand alone, from the trim and carpentry work in Dundee to the first repaints going up around Gretna and the Iowa side in Council Bluffs. The next Omaha painter who calls hears no. Running two local crews through the same auction only raises what both of them pay to reach the same homeowner in Elkhorn.

Omaha questions

Should I be bidding on the Iowa side at all, or just Nebraska?

That is your call, and it should be a deliberate one. Council Bluffs and the rest of Pottawattamie County are close enough to serve and far enough to hurt margin if the ticket is small and the drive is long. We run the Iowa side as its own geo with its own bid and its own budget cap, so you can see what a Council Bluffs booked job actually costs you next to a Papillion one and decide from numbers instead of a hunch. If it does not pay, we turn it down or off without touching Nebraska.

After a big hail event, is it even worth advertising against all the storm crews?

That is when it pays most. Those crews work doors and phone lists, not Google, so search stays open while the metro is thinking about exteriors nonstop. Two kinds of leads come out of it: homeowners who want a local painter on the insurance scope instead of an out of state name on the contract, and homeowners a season later staring at siding and trim the storm crew never finished. We keep a storm repair keyword set and a matching landing page ready so budget can move there in a week rather than a month.
